Mixed Tour | Swan Valley
Top Gun Tours will take you to the following locations:
Windy Creek Estate
Windy Creek Winery, formally Cobanov Wines, is a family owned and operated winery located in the Swan Valley in the shadows of the Darling Range, with the cellar door set in the gardens of the family home.
The winery employs modern and traditional wine making techniques, with white styles aiming to be crisp and friendly, showing loads of tropical fruits finishing with a nice mouth feel. Reds are earthy, with a savoury aroma and loads of fruit and well-balanced tannin. Visitors can relax in the beautiful rose gardens, with stunning views across the vines to the Darling Escarpment.
Windy Creek Estate was first established in 1937 by Anthony Cobanov. He left Croatia in 1924 and spent 13 years cutting sleepers in the south-west to enable him to put a deposit on this Swan Valley property. In 1937 he bought the fertile Swan Valley property that is still the core of the family business and sent for his wife and sons.
The Windy Creek label was first released in 1980 but the wineries actual name later changed, after a two and half year battle with Debortolis (Windy Peak), in 2000. The family has continued to produce wines for 70 years and have been selling fruit to other wineries for approximately 25 years.
Olive Farm Wines
Olive Farm Wines has a proud history as Western Australia’s longest operating winery. Originally located in South Guilford, and operated by an English botanist from 1829, the Yugoslavian Urisich family took ownership of Olive Farm Wines in 1933, and then made the move to the Swan Valley. Setting a bench mark in wine making, Olive Farm Wines is pioneering contemporary architecture and embracing innovative wine making methods in an otherwise conservative region.
Olive Farm Wines always strive to produce a diverse range of wine styles to cater for a wide variety of palettes. This approach has lead to the production of sparkling, white, red and fortified wine styles. Olive Farm Wines will also be venturing into a new area of the industry with the production of a pot stilled Brandy. The entire wine range is available only from the cellar door in the Swan Valley.
Valley View Restaurant
Capturing stunning views across the Valley and up into the Darling Scarp, the Valley View Restaurant invites visitors to indulge in modern cuisine made from the best and freshest local produce. Completed in 1997, the restaurant has quickly become one of the most popular dining venues in the Swan Valley.
The alfresco area, complete with canvas awning and a mist cooling system, features cafe style blinds which provide views of the picturesque gardens, creating a shady and peaceful retreat with a relaxed and cosy atmosphere.
A large range of local wines, spirits, cocktails and boutique beers complement the extensive menu. Part owner and award winning chef from the UK, Stephen Connor, has won prestigious awards including UK`s Young Achiever Award, Golden Chef Hat Award at hotel Olympias, and was decorated as a Master Chef by the craft guild of chefs.
Elmar's in the Valley
Elmar’s in the Valley was established by Elmar and Anette Dieren, and is a German themed brewery, restaurant, bar and smallgoods shop located in the heart of the Swan Valley.
Elmar’s in the Valley has the largest micro glass brewery in the southern hemisphere, with modern glass and copper kettles, showcasing Ein Stein, Pilsner, Kick Back Wheat Beer and Over Draft Ale.
Elmar`s beer is brewed to the exacting standards of the oldest food standard laws in the world, the ‘Bavarian Purity Law’ formed in 1516. The basis to this exacting standard ensures that only pure water, malt and hops are used, to produce a distinctive German beer.
With spacious indoor dining as well as a two acre beer garden, the Elmar’s restaurant caters for all tastes, featuring traditional German and modern European cuisines, highlighting Elmar’s preservative free smallgoods selection. At Elmar’s in the Valley, the best of German culture is incorporated into a uniquely Australian environment.
The Duckstein Brewery was one of the pioneers of micro-brewing in Western Australia`s popular Swan Valley, where it continues to offer a traditional German dining experience and live music on weekends.
Proudly producing premium beer from the finest ingredients, the Duckstein Brewery uses the tradition of Reinheitsgebot - The Purity Law of 1516 - where only water, malt and hops are used to make the beer. Using all natural ingredients and no additives or chemicals, their range of inspired beers includes the Bavarian classic Hefeweiss, a Pilsner, Dunkel and Altbier. Duckstein proudly offers a variety of seasonal beers, plus our special Oktoberbrau beer during Oktoberfest.
With quality German-style dining, the Duckstein is surrounded by towering gumtrees which create a wonderful ambience for alfresco dining. The atmosphere is fun, the service is friendly and the food is exceptional!
